My 21st Fishing Trip - 14 April - Southern Islands

So, I had the worst and best trip ever today!

My day started off really fucked. I was so fucking pissed off. This trip was organized by one of my work colleagues and I've never gone fishing with him before. He told me to meet 0815hrs at NSRCC. And I was like, "NSRCC??? They have a berth there?" He said, "Yaaaa confirm!!! 100%!"

Huh? Maybe leaving Singapore for a few years saw NSRCC build a berth or something, or maybe it was always there and I never knew?

By the time I got home from work the previous night and went to bed, it was near 0400hrs. And I had to wake up when the fucking sky looked like fucking this.

Photobucket

NSRCC is quite a distance from my place and I didn't wanna get caught in the peak hour rush, so I left early.

(Note: if you haven't already noticed, these few paragraphs are going to contain the word "Fuck" ALOT. Skip if you're underaged, easily offended, or just gay).

F U C K

I kept wondering where the FUCK the berth was at NSRCC. Tired and weary, I asked a cleaner. "Ooooooo", he said. "That way!"

F U C K

Talking nonsense! I went this way and that way and no FUCKING berth.

So I asked another fucking cleaner.

And........

F U C K

He said, "here where got boat go out? You mad ah?"

So I called Joe (my friend) and said..... F U C K

He said, "Sorry sorry sorry please don't fuck me, it's not NSRCC, it's RSYC".

FFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUCCCCCCCCCCKKKKKKKKKKK YYYYYYOOOOOOOUUUUUUUUUUUU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

One east and one west. I FUCKING spent $60 on taxi this morning. FUCK was I pissed...

FUCK!

And when I FINALLY reached RSYC, I had to wait another 30mins for them...

FUCK!!!!!!!

(Ok kids, you can continue reading from here).

Now, why I said I had a great day too was because this was only my second time visiting the Southern Islands. The first time was also my first ever off shore trip and it was at night. So I didn't really know what was going on lol, I just sat there like the dumb fool I am. The trip today was also fantastic, the bite rate was awesome and the people and boatman were really funny. So entertaining...

Now that I'm working in an environment that's crowded, rowdy and really really smoky, I seem to appreciate my fishing trips so much more. The fresh air, the gentle breeze, the serenity and of course, the "I-can-off-my-phone-and-say-cos-no-reception". The immense difference of hearing people shouting at me all the time to the gentle caressing sound the waves make when they stroke upon the boat is incredible.

Fishing is so much better than sex.

I didn't say that.

Alright! Cut the crap, I have 44 pictures to paste in this post! I better get started.

While waiting for them, I took the chance to snap a few shots of RSYC (Republic of Singapore Yacht Club). Y-a-u-t, not Y-a-t-c-h. Say Y-a-t-c-h to me and I'll slap you harder than your mama did when she first saw your face.

Wtf, I sound kinda disturbed. Hmmm...

Soon, Joe and his entourage came and we introduced ourselves and got on the boat. Boatman's name is Ah Ho.

Photobucket

Ah Ho said that we'd be doing more reef fishing today and he told me what better rigs to use. So I did.

I think I'm gonna cut my grandmother stories short today. So I'm gonna summarize most of the day into a few sentences. I'm only gonna tell grandmother stories on my catches. If I was gonna write up on every catch, this would be a thesis!

Basically, to me, the bite rate was incredible. We all had a constant pull up of fishes
all day long, and the variety was amazing. Also, because the Southern side of Singapore is full of reefs as compared to my regular East side fishing, even if there was no big take, there would ALWAYS be a constant nibble on your bait the very minute you put it down. This small thrill makes the day more entertaining anyway. Bad part is, we ran out of prawns as fast as you can count the number of moons in the sky.

Kakis William and Raymond started of really well, and I didn't get a single bite.

:(

So I said, "I'm waiting for the big one la".

I turned around, and BAM!!!! FISH ON!!!!!

Photobucket

I must have said "What the fuck" to myself at least 5 times before the fish surfaced. Maybe it was because I wasn't used to my new light tackle set up. I don't know. The fish was freakin' strong! It kept pulling me down and down and down. It pulled so hard that I couldn't even reel it! What the fuck man? Mr Fishy gave my rod a nose dive at least 5 times and half my rod was in the water. I was so scared it was going to give way lol.

Steady now!!

I tried to keep clam.. But failed... lol... It's been sooooo long since I upped something decent and this was giving me a run for my money! I was so freakin' excited I almost lost the fish lol.

This bugger tugged me for close to 5mins. Yea, I know 5mins isn't long, but fishys in Singapore usually come up after 2mins! And 5mins fighting a fish is like... Let's see... Hmmm... You know that few seconds when you know you're gonna hit the Big O? That few seconds of super highness and shiokness? Can you imagine it lasting 5mins? Think about it! hehehehehe :D

After that tug of war, HELLO Mr Sagai!

Photobucket

Wow, Sagai, I don't even know what a Sagai is lol. But they said "GOOD!" so... GOOD!

Something funny happened during the taking of this photo.

I was trying to get it into a good position when I suddenly saw blood steaming down it's gills. Like, really flowing... Raymond was trying to help me take this shot. Before I could do anything, the bugger flipped and poor Raymond was smacked with a splatter of fishy blood. lol. Sorry ah!

Take a look at the aftermath. Looked like we just killed someone. :D

Photobucket

Ahhhh, I don't know how to put it. This feeling is sooo rewarding. After getting this fish, I just sat there with my feet dangling over the glassy waters and just... enjoyed the feeling... I was smiling like a mad man inside, but you know we guys must act cool one, must act as if small thing only... heh...

Aiyah... Ok, taste of victory must end now, need to focus back on fishing. So I chose a pretty little prawnie and put her ass in.

Whoooooooooooooooooooop!!!

FISH ON... AGAIN!!!!

Photobucket

Wah, this one also quite power! Strong stuff. I had my next 5 mins of fun before it surface. And I swear to God, if someone had a camera pointing at my face when I saw the fish, you'd see a great, big....... ?? on my face.

What the hell.

Firstly, what the hell is this fish?

Secondly, why the hell is my hook by the side?

Ohhhhh foul hook! lol..

Must be plenty of fishes down there for me to even foul hook one. I didn't even move my line, it probably just swam right into my hook lol.

Here she is...

They said, "Hanzi Yu". Huh? Tapioca fish? Ahhh, checked online, it's called a Redbelly Yellowtail Fusilier.

After that I got tons of other fishes. Mainly, I got Spanish Snappers. Actually, everyone did. Our whole freakin' live well was like a Spanish Snapper aquarium.

Oh yea, I got this poor guy too. He was bleeding all over but they said it tasted like shit and threw it away.

Photobucket

Actually, we threw away alot of fishes today and they were all table sized fishes. The total catch we kept you will see at the end of my post is like 75% of what we actually got.

Here are various photos from today. Check out the Ang Gao (Coral Trout) we got! Super rare and expensive fish!

Oh... One time, Raymond pulled this fucking sick looking shit out of one of the fishes he caught. It came out from the mouth.

Photobucket

Eeewww... I swear to God it was the fucking biggest mite I've ever fucking seen. Dear Lord... It was the size of my small finger.

Alrighty, need to end this, tired. Wow my photos not even done uploading. Argh! Anyway, here's what we decided to take home. Half of them were still very much alive, so it was kinda hard to get a nice pic.

And this is my share for the day. Mother no need go market for one week. :D

Photobucket

Ah Ho commented on the way back that this trip is considered as "Fucked". But I said, "We were all constantly pulling something up, that's what's important ma, everyone had fun!" We laughed and made our way home...

Great fishing trip. Great Kakis and Boatman. I'm definitely going again. ZY and Riz, I can see you two salivating!
