My 24th Fishing Trip - Undisclosed Kelong

Jesus it's been a long time. No I haven't forgotten about my blog and neither have I been too lazy. I did go on one trip since my last but I'm not going to post that for personal reasons. The rest of the time, I've either been really busy at work (god damn I hate shift work) or been really busy trying to get through my quarter life crisis lol. Problem is... I've delayed this post a few days so some things abit rusty :( But I'll try my best anyway.

Breaking news: I've been nominated as spokesperson among my kakis!

And as your dearly appointed spokesperson the first thing I would like to say is..

FUCK U GUYS!

Bwahahahhahaha!

Let's roll!!!

So today was going to be different. After tedious hours we spent studying. All of us packed out ammo and headed out to an undisclosed kelong! However, this time, our most powerful weapon were not our rods (or my handsome face)... Today was going to be different... We were armed with the MOST powerful weapon of all!

I left my house at 0645hrs, hands itchy like hell. I needed a break, needed to get away from alot of shiat that seems to naturally crystalise around me. Within 30mins, I was at Punggol Marina once more. And I met up with my dear lieutenant and his understudy, Khai & Suhaimi. Haven't seen you pricks for some time, pictures are in lieu.

Today's pictures are half from my Canon, half from my iPhone 4. Some idiot kept recording videos and killed my camera's battery. Fuck you.

Please remember to watch the videos in HD 720dp. I'm also having problems rotating the pictures correctly. I think it's due to the iPhone 4's longish photos conflicting with my blog's template. If anyone knows how to fix this please let me know!

Riz, my dear Rizal... Go to work always late, come for fishing always 1 hour early...

Photobucket
Ready to go!!! Wait... Where the f is Chee Keong? Omg fucker still at MRT station and never call anyone!!! Suhaimi! Go pick him up bitch!

Photobucket
Once on the boat, we all sat down patiently listening to Suhaimi tell us stories of his adventures.. yawn...

When we reached the Kelong, honestly, I was surprised. I been to a Kelong to fish once before (can check my previous posts) and it was SHIATE. But this place was huge! Then I remembered. I ever passed by this place before and said, "Eh, looks good man, must try one day, dunno can or not". Well, here I am.

Uncle R***** was our contact person and a super nice dude. Once we alighted, he told us that we couldn't fish till 12pm........................ What the fuck............ Well, apparently, some Buddhist association were coming at ten-ish to perform some rituals and then release some fishes into the wild. So... If they had come here to release fishes and they see us fishing.... Well it's a little lame... hahahaha...

But Uncle R***** said that in exchange for our loss of time, we would all get one free try at the sure catch pond they have. Usually, it's $12 a pop for the sure catch pond. $12 a pop??? Fishing is better than sex... AND CHEAPER WOOT!

So we staked out a camp spot and laid our bags and ammo to rest.

I thought I was gonna be bored. But by God... This is the funnest Kelong ever! So many things to do and see to kill time. Apparently, they were ordered by AVA to rear Cobias. So... They had 9457984759845 Cobias! Check this out!

Cobia feeding is no joke! Really ferocious fishes.

Soon, we used the Kelong net to get some bait fish.

Photobucket

And to kill time, we used the bait fishes to feed the big ones. Now, there was this one section that the owner kept fishes that were oversized and could not be sold. Inside this net, were 1.5m long Cobias, 5kg GTs and two 40kg and above Queensland Groupers. It's like their fish tank. Check out Riz trying to feed them... But he scared... But I won't tell you all that he was scared... :X

Actually, in all honesty, I have no idea why I am the spokesperson guys... Is it because I'm Chinese? You fkin racist assholes. Why do I say this? Well, an Ang Mor family kayaked over and came up onto the Kelong to have a look. And the lady started talking to Riz.

Lady: "What fish is this?"

Riz: "This one called Cobia".

Lady: "Oh cool, so do you work here?"

Riz: "No, we are Marine Biology students being attached to this Kelong for a week. We are here to write our report on how fishes fare in Singapore waters these days. There has been alot of talk that Singapore waters might not be conducive for most marine life, we are here to prove that wrong. Also, we are here to determine the diet of fishes in Singapore, we use prawns, crabs and fish meat and see which one they like to eat. Lastly, we are also here to risk our lives for the better of our fellow Singaporeans".

Lady: "Huh? How?"

Riz: "We use ourselves as Guinea Pigs to see if the fish in Singapore waters fare well in our tummys".

Lady: "Wow you are so smart!"

Here's another video of the Buddhist people getting Milkfish to release. Looks how excited the doggies are!

Ok, I'm not trying to be an ass, but... Releasing things like birds and fishes into the wild for a good cause, ain't exactly a good cause... You know those birds that fly and smack into window buildings or get sucked into plane engines? Ya, those are probably the birds that have been in captivity their whole life and "set free". They won't know how to look for food and probably die either way.

Now for fishes, when the Kelong people load them into the pails, they actually add some sort of muscle relaxant solvent into the pails. Why? Fishes are strong things, if they don't do that, there will be no way they could pail them up. And when you release these half asleep fishes into the sea. Well guess what? Bye bye. Competition in the sea is fierce. Eat or be eaten, or just die. These guys won't know how to fight for food etc. Therefore, while in concept what they are doing is really sweet and kudos to you people, but the reality of it is pretty sucky.

And that's the end of my thesis thank you very much. LOL.

BACK TO FISHING WTF!

By the time they left, it was 1330hrs. /cry.

We whipped out our gear and threw our lines and just relaxed in the sun. True enough, this Kelong was a good fishing spot. Suhaimi landed two Rays in minutes. The small one was released. Bites were consistent too. Oh heck I'm just gonna load all the pics of the fishes in one go. SO HERE YOU GO!

So we hung around till about 1730hrs. So you think this is where my story ends...

THIS IS WHERE MY STORY BEGINS!

Ok so honesty... Is going to be my best policy today ok? Guys, don't hate me, I just wanna tell the truth. And no, not the truth about how handsome I am, but about what was going to happen next.

Uncle R***** said it was time for us to use the sure catch pond... That was around 1745hrs. Let me put it this way. By the time we left, it was almost 1900hrs. LOL.

In the next 1.5hrs, all that happened was...
